Choosing Cameras for Digital Photography

What are you looking for in a digital camera? You can choose from many name brands and types of cameras including AF SLR, Digital Compacts, Direct Vision, Camcorders, Phones and more.

Previously, we discussed digital compact cameras as well as AF SLR models. Now, we are going to discuss Direct Vision Cams and a few other models. If you will be a casual photographer you may want to look at the direct vision cameras offered by Leica. Some direct vision models offer high quality pictures with excelent sound capability.

Other types include Mega-Pixel Camcorders, Large Format Cams, Instant Cams, Imaging Phones, etc. Phone cams are not great for general photography but some can transfer images to a computer, to eMail or to the Internet. This is ideal for low resolution field shots that need to be uploaded to a computer quickly. Bluetooth Models are popular for quick upload.

Mega-pixel camcorders low pixel resolution limits their use to home movies and Internet publishing. Still, they are good camcorders, sort of like an Ipod with a cam built in.

Now it is time to decide which camera is best suited for your needs. What are your goals? Do you need high resolution? Are you in the spy business, or in amateur or professional photography?
